Hi Everyone! It is CRAZY how the weeks go by! Already, I am half way through! Here’s some exciting news: MY OUTREACH LOCATION AND TEAM HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED… AND I WILL BE DOING THE “BLACK VOICES NORTHEAST TOUR”! This means that after this lecture phase and our winter break at home, I will be touring with my Circuit Riders team (I’ll attach a picture of where we’ll be going). The Black Voices Tour is a team of Black missionaries, like myself, brought together to visit Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In addition, we will be visiting a few predominantly white campuses, some high schools, and a juvenile detention center during our tour.

In the last blog, I touched on the first two weeks of this venture; three weeks have passed since then. As I lightly touched on before, each week focuses on different aspects of ministry and spiritual growth. Week three was Freedom Week, week four Holy Spirit week, and week five focused on Missional Voice. Freedom Week, led by the amazing Holly Moseman, hit on knowing your design, identity, and purpose and how that is linked to your calling. Miss Holly guided us through breaking off spiritual strongholds, and gave us tools and insight on engaging in walking in Freedom, not just here at Circuit Riders, but even after this season. Personally, I was able to do some introspective work and view where I was neglecting to walk in freedom in my own life. I realized I’ve been walking in inaction leading to passivity, and learning the spirit of passivity is out to steal the joy of living a fruitful life in Christ. This gave me a new vigor to walk in the opposite spirit! I’m now learning to take initiative with conversations and relationships in new ways.

Going into Holy Spirit Week, there were many students who had an understanding of the Holy Spirit and His character and many who were not familiar with this aspect of God. Our speaker, Zach Nash, did a wonderful job bringing us into a deeper revelation no matter our previous understanding. Zach coached us through seeing the Holy Spirit as He is–-a living being and not simply an “energy”. He also taught on the gifts that the Spirit gives to edify the church. This particular week challenged me to invite the Holy Spirit into more aspects of my life and not only acknowledge Him when I want to or when I’m desperate for help.
This past week, focused on The Missional Voice, was also very stretching. We examined what it means to have a Revelation 7:9 mindset when it comes to activating all the unique voices in the Body of Christ. In this passage, we see a vision of “every nation, tribe, people, and language standing before our God.” Our mission is to not only share the gospel to the lost, but be a catalyst for a multicultural body of believers, as we embrace the reality that the Great Commission is for ALL.
Thank you all again for being a part of this journey. Some updates for prayer requests are: continued health as my body gets used to this dry california weather, prayers for the local college campuses that we visit for evangelism on Wednesdays (my team goes to Chapman University). Also, please pray for our outreach leaders as they continue to communicate with our campus connections at each location and prepare to lead us this coming January. And finally, please pray for continued financial provision.
